In this review we are going to take a look at the deck / patio chair from Mainstays. This is a cheap and affordable chair for many people, and has been a popular seller on Walmart. Does the cheap price reflect the quality in any way? Lets take a look at that below.

With a retail price of only around $75 for two chairs, this really is a very cheap cheap option from Mainstays. The chair itself is quite ordinary, and looking at it there is nothing too impressive, or really unimpressive to see. It looks like your average patio chair, without really standing out much at all. For the price we can’t expect more than that, and there is nothing wrong with the average design. The good news is that it does come in a wide range of colors, that look a little bit more exciting than the tan variety (pictured to the left). You will find this chair also available in blue, red, yellow, green and turquoise. Our pick would be the green or turquoise models, as they looks funky and add a breath of fresh air to your garden or patio decor.
The frame of the chair is made out of steel, and it has been powder coated for extra durability.
The fabric cover on the chair is made out of polyester, which has been coated with the something called polyvinyl. This material is not fully waterproof, but it does mean the chair can be washed and kept clean using a mild solution of soap and water. Included with the chair is a headrest pillow, which can be folded back when it is not in use. Just below the arms on the main frame is a safety lock, allowing you to lock the chair in position when in use. This isn’t a feature we have seen on too many other chairs, and we’re not sure how beneficial this really is. As for weight ratings, this chair has a maximum supported weight of 250lbs.
The chair itself is fairly comfortable to sit in. The seat isn’t too low, and it feels about the right height without putting too much strain on your back. The cords provide a decent amount of support, and seem to retain their compression quite well. The fabric on the chair is nothing to really write home about, and it does the job just fine. The armrests are a little thin, and perhaps a bit flimsy when in use. This isn’t really a major concern, as they are still capable of doing that job. The headrest is quite comfy, although the ability to adjust the height of the cushion is something we would have liked to seen on it. The chair itself is nice and light to carry around, and is a good cheap option for those times when you have guests around and need a little extra seating.
There isn’t much more to really say about the chair. It is nothing special, but at the same time it does exactly what it claims to do – provides cheap and adequate seating. There are one or two minor drawbacks such as the flimsy armrests, but for the price we really can’t complain. If you are looking for some cheap deck bungee chairs, then the Mainstays are certainly a fine choice.
